Sweet Friends

Madelyn and two of her friends (Meredith and Caroline) are playing in the floor.  They are within 8 months of each other and play well together.  Madelyn loves her friends.  She randomly talks about all of friends during the week.  She can tell us who is in her class at school and who is in her class at church.  When we drive up to a friends house, she knows who lives there without me saying.  The other day we were driving to pick up a meal and we turned by Whole Foods off of 280 and Madelyn automatically said, "Mommy, are we going to Kate's house?"  It is so funny the things they know at this age.  We thank God everyday for all of our friends.

Brooks loves hanging with the girls!

See below for another post (sorry I am behind).

Madelyn's First Haircut

Madelyn had her first haircut last Saturday (age: 2 years and 10 months).  Her hair just started growing a lot in the past 6 months, so we finally took the plunge and got it cut (or really just trimmed).  She did not love getting it cut, she cried off and on.  She will learn soon that getting your haircut is a relaxing time.  She got a pink sucker at the end and was then very happy.
"Look at that serious/mean face!"

The Greatest Show on Earth

TopLanding.aspx.jpg

A few days ago, Patrick and I decided to have a date night on Friday night.   I ask him to plan a fun and unique date (because I am normally the planner).  All I knew about the night was what time to be ready.  I love surprises!  Well, let's just say, he did an great job!  We had dinner at 26 in Five Points and then went to "The Greatest Show on Earth".  I felt like a kid again.  From the elephants and tigers to the acrobats, it was an awesome show.  We look forward to taking Madelyn and Brooks to the circus next time it comes to town.  We bought them a wand that lights up and spins, cant wait to give it to them in the morning.  Thank you to my wonderful husband for a fun and exciting date.  I love you!!!!

P.S. There would be tons of pictures to post if I had known where we were going.  :)

My 5 Addictions

Five addictions of mine are:

1)  Diet Coke (not diet Pepsi) and it has to be on the rocks
2)  DVR - I have not watched a TV show live in three years
3)  The computer in front of me - I spend way too much time on this (and also, my crackberry)
4)  Sewing - I have about 8 projects right now to work on (thanks to all the recent sales - I stocked up on material).  By the way, this would not have been an addiction of mine one year ago today.
5)  Mushrooms - I could seriously eat these on almost everything.

I am tagging whoever would like to do this.  It was fun and different than a picture tag.

What have the Harwell children been up to?

Well, Madelyn and Brooks have been sick the first half of January, but the good news is that now they are well.  They both had ongoing ear infections for about 8 weeks and Madelyn had wheezing, couching, etc.  So, please pray that they will stay well for a while.  I could tell after talking to our pediatrician this week that he would like us to hibernate until Spring, but we all know that I would go crazy doing that.

Brooks had his 15 month checkup this week.  Wow, where has time gone?  He had a great appointment.  Little Man weighs 21 lbs. 4 ozs. (10% percentile for boys) and is 31 inches long (50% percentile for boys).  He walks everywhere now and says about 4 words.  I didn't think he was talking enough but our pediatrician said that second children and boys talk later than others.  So I guess we are on track.  He is developing a little attitude (it is so funny to see him fight back against his bossy sister).  We love you Brooks!!!

Madelyn is 9 weeks away from being 3.  Just saying that I have a three year old sounds crazy.  She is doing great.  Right now her favorite things are school and her new baby that Santa brought her.  We have been asking her over and over, "what is the baby's name?" and her response is "Two".  So, I guess she named her Two.  She says something funny everyday and is very curious (she got that from her daddy).  Our normal conversations in the car go like this:  MH asks:  Mommy, what are you doing?  Mommy responds:  I am driving.  Few seconds later - MH asks:  Mommy, what are you doing?  Mommy responds:  I am still driving.  She will go on and on with the same questions.  It is quite amusing but also annoying at times.  But, it is great to know that she is learning by asking questions.  Our biggest news is that this past Tuesday was her first day to wear big girl underwear and she did great.  Tuesday we had two accidents, Wednesday she had one accident, and today she had zero.  Way to go Madelyn.  We love you Madelyn!!!

Madelyn, what's for supper?

Our little chef, Madelyn, made supper tonight. It was awesome - pizza! As you can see, in this first picture the sauce is being spread.
Next, the pepperoni made it on the pizza. She was really concentrating on this task.

Next, came the mushrooms and then cheese. Madelyn and Mommy love mushrooms!! She wanted to put all the cheese on hers, go figure. Who doesn't like cheese?

Yeah, they are all done and ready for the oven.

And now we are playing around, taking pictures of ourselves, while the pizzas are cooking!

Scroll down for one more new post!
By the way, Happy 2009 (14 days late)!
